Crimean pine: grandeur and beauty for the garden
Its elegant crown, full aromatic foliage and reddish bark give the garden a distinctive character. Plants are 1–5 m tall depending on age. The crown is conical when young and umbrella-shaped at maturity. Long dark green needles are glossy, and large resinous cones are pale brown.
Undemanding about soil and light, it tolerates drought and frost and grows quickly. Needles and cones are described as rich in phytoncides, essential oils and vitamins. It makes a striking landscape accent.
